Over 700 Hillsborough County residents came together last month to celebrate Public Service Day at the county's West Service Unit on Sheldon Road, immersing themselves in the inner workings of local government operations. The event, now in its third iteration, showcased large equipment and engaged families with activities that emphasized the importance of Public Works and Water Resources, as per Hillsborough County officials.

With a Mosquito Management helicopter, garbage and fire trucks on display, the event provided a tangible sense of the machinery and tools pivotal to managing the county's infrastructure, including a front-end loader, asphalt grader, and excavators, the day was not only about spectacle but also shared knowledge, connecting county staff with the community they serve demonstrating, among other things, how a camera truck and jet vac operate to maintain the necessary infrastructure. The celebration also featured free mosquitofish giveaways and brought together various departments such as Fire Rescue, the Sunshine Line, and Human Resources to name a few, creating a multifaceted representation of county services.

Public Service Day continues its trajectory of growth with each passing year, reinforcing the bonds between residents and the stewards of their daily public services.

Alongside the Public Works and Water Resources, several other departments joined in the communal event including Fire Rescue, Sunshine Line, and the Mobile Library bringing together a cross-section of Hillsborough County's service departments, promoting the tireless work they do and their dedication to the well-being of the community they support, in an eventful gathering that both educates and celebrates, the county's Public Service Day.
