Hobby Airport is becoming a popular foodie spot with four new restaurants set to open later this year. This is part of a larger project to improve concessions at William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, offering more dining choices for travelers, as per Click2Houston.
As reported by Click2Houston, the new additions include the acclaimed Killen’s Barbeque, the esteemed Common Bond Bistro and Bakery, SpindleTap Brewery known for its top-rated beer, and Yard House, which boasts a vast array of draft beer selections. These joints are not just random picks; according to Libby Hurley, director of concessions for Houston Airports, "They reflect a deliberate mix of national reach and Houston flavor, all designed to meet the expectations of modern travelers."
These restaurants are joining the recently opened Pei Wei and Chick-fil-A in the airport’s west concourse food court. In a move that underscores the airport's intent to mirror the city's culinary diversity, the Houston Chronicle highlights the strategic intention behind these restaurant selections. The Houston Chronicle quotes Libby Hurley, saying, "These restaurants are not just exciting additions—they're strategic."
Additional amenities that also came with the initiative's earlier phases have been met with enthusiastic reviews from the airport's patrons. Not just settling for convenience, but also the representation of Houston's values through their concession offerings, the airport has introduced multiple new amenities, such as Rustic, Velvet Taco, Starbucks, Throughhood Bistro, and even day spas and convenience stores. “The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive,” Hurley told Click2Houston. "Travelers appreciate the convenience. And more than that, they appreciate that our concessions reflect the values of the city we serve."
Looking forward, Phase 4 of the airport's improvements is set to include even more dining options with the addition of Landry's Seafood House joining Dish Society, Pink's Pizza, Jersey Mike’s, and Wendy’s, as per Click2Houston. With the influx of well-known local and national restaurants, Hobby Airport is well on its way to transforming the travel experience by doubling down on the gastronomic experience that makes a stopover in Houston something to anticipate.
