A fatal shooting that occurred yesterday has prompted a homicide investigation by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at the corner of a busy intersection in Riverview. The incident took place at the juncture of U.S. Highway 301 and Balm Riverview Road, as informed by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in a recent statement.
Deputies responding to a call about the incident discovered an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his upper body. The unnamed victim was quickly rushed to a local hospital but unfortunately, was pronounced dead upon arrival. The shooter, who remained at the scene, has been cooperating with the investigation according to official statements by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
In the aftermath, detectives are working closely with the State Attorney’s Office to navigate the parameters, of this case. Meanwhile, the identity of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin. The Sheriff's Office has indicated that the information will be made available to the public upon request once proper protocols are observed.
