
A fire in a Wai‘anae residential building was fully extinguished after quick action from the Honolulu Fire Department. The fire was reported via 911 at 5:34 p.m. last Saturday, and was responded to by 40 fire department personnel across 12 units, as reported by the Honolulu Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived at 5:39 p.m. at 85-125 Alawa Place to find a single-story building on fire. They secured a water source and worked to control the fire, gaining control by 5:46 p.m. Two residents required medical attention and were taken to The Queen’s Medical Center – West Oahu at 5:57 p.m., according to the Honolulu Fire Department.
Firefighters extinguished the fire by 6:53 p.m. and conducted searches to ensure no one was inside. The American Red Cross assisted five displaced residents, and no Honolulu Fire Department members were injured. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire and assess the damages.
