U.S. Coins & Jewelry, a local business celebrating its 40th anniversary, is hosting the event during National Coin Week. The treasure will be hidden at five locally owned businesses around the region, with clues posted on social media starting on Monday and running through Saturday as per as news report.
The treasure hunt not only offers prizes but also highlights the historical significance of the collectible coins used, which are all pre-1915, as per KHOU.
Participants can choose to keep their find or exchange it for its current market value at U.S. Coins & Jewelry’s showroom. Daily giveaways, coin collector kits, and special deals will also be part of the event, aimed at sparking interest in coin collecting.
The company’s co-owner, Matthew Duncan, emphasized that the hunt reflects the support of the local community. "We wanted this year’s treasure hunt to reflect the communities that have supported us for four decades," he said in the same report. The event also includes an educational component, with the company sharing more about the hobby of coin collecting.
