Two suspects have been charged in connection with the death of a two-month-old infant in Houston. The incident, which took place at an address on 3300 Cummins Street, led to the arrests of JaMari Mari Bailey, 21, and Marybeth Clarisa Rodriguez, 22. According to a statement from the Houston Police Department, the suspects are facing charges of injury to a child – serious bodily injury.
On June 16, 2024, the couple brought their unwell baby to an urgent care center, which due to the severity of his condition, the baby was transported to Texas Children’s Hospital. The baby sadly passed away a week later, on June 23. "Further investigation determined the baby had suffered extensive injuries and trauma," as documented in the report by the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division Sergeant M. Holbrook and Detective R. Lujan. The Harris County District Attorney's Office was notified, and charges were soon after filed against Bailey and Rodriguez.
The two were arrested without any trouble on April 9 after the investigation ended. They were taken to the Harris County Jail, and their booking photos were released with the Houston Police Department.
