A man was fatally stabbed early Monday morning at an apartment on South Braeswood Boulevard, leading to an investigation now being handled by a Harris County grand jury. The incident occurred around 7:50 a.m. on Monday.

According to the Houston Police Department release on City of Houston website, officers responded to a call at 9001 South Braeswood Boulevard and found a 30-year-old man with a stab wound to his leg. Despite efforts to administer life-saving measures, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Brooks and Detective C. Flora are investigating and have learned that the man was allegedly stabbed by his live-in girlfriend, who also called 911 and tried to provide first aid.

The woman involved provided a statement, and after consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the case was referred to the grand jury for further review. The grand jury will determine if additional charges or actions are warranted.
