A routine response to a stalled car turned into a police chase in the 11000 block of Bammel North Houston Road last Monday, Constable Mark Herman's Office deputies discovered a man asleep at the wheel, a press release on the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Facebook page detailed the events that unfolded.
When the deputies attempted to wake the man, he reportedly revved the engine and fled the scene leading to a brief pursuit before law enforcement officers managed to halt his escape the driver was taken into custody and was later identified as John Fields, according to the Constable's Office.
In the aftermath, Fields was charged with fleeing a police officer, and his bond was set at $100.00 out of County Court 9, as Constable Mark Herman stated in the release, "John Fields was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Fleeing Police Officer."
