Alfonso Najera Espinal, 23, has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting on Telephone Road. He faces charges of murder and assault with a deadly weapon following the death of 54-year-old Jesus Vasquez and the injury of another man, as reported by the Houston Police Department.
The Houston Police Department's Homicide Division investigated the incident, which occurred outside a bar. Officers found two men with gunshot wounds. Vasquez was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other man, 32, was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Investigators believe the shooting followed a verbal argument that escalated into violence.
Espinal was identified as the suspect after surveillance images were released to the public. He was arrested by the HPD Southeast Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team last Sunday and has confessed to his involvement in the shooting. The Harris County District Attorney's Office charged Espinal on Tuesday.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are seeking information about an unidentified Hispanic male who may have additional details about the incident.
