
A hit-and-run incident occurred early this morning on US 59 southbound near the Beechnut offramp. The crash was reported around 2:30 a.m. when a pedestrian walking along the freeway was hit by a vehicle that left the scene, as reported by Click2Houston.
According to FOX 26 Houston, Houston Police Sgt. Griffiths stated the vehicle, believed to be a silver Honda with a black stripe on the hood, tried to avoid the pedestrian but struck them. The driver reportedly paused briefly before driving away. The victim has not been identified, and the driver remains at large.
All southbound lanes were closed for several hours, causing traffic delays. The highway reopened after 5 a.m. Authorities continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information about the incident or the vehicle to contact law enforcement.
