Early this morning, a tragic incident unfolded on the freeway at 9000 West Loop South, as police in Houston were called to the scene of a fatal collision that claimed the life of a 30-year-old male pedestrian. The Houston Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Division, including Sergeant L. Ross and Officer T. Riley, confirmed that the accident occurred at around 4:35 a.m.
According to the official statement from Houston Police Department, witnesses vividly described the male victim as he was attempting to cross the freeway main lanes, perilously making his way on hands and knees. Despite the driver of a black Honda Accord earnestly trying to avert what was believed to be debris, a collision was unavoidable. Subsequently, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck also came into contact with the male. Both vehicles remained at the scene following the incident. Houston Police Department have confirmed that "both drivers stopped and remained at the scene."
Houston Fire Department paramedics were quickly dispatched and upon arrival, they pronounced the man deceased.
