Houston authorities are currently looking into an accident that occurred last night at approximately 10:15 p.m. The incident, which took place at 300 McCarty Road, resulted in the tragic death of a 62-year-old woman whose name has yet to be released pending identity verification from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The collision involved a white Toyota RAV4, the driver was the only occupant at the time, as the vehicle veered off the road for unknown reasons, HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths, and Officer J. Johnson have indicated in their preliminary findings. After leaving the designated lane, the vehicle moved onto nearby railroad tracks before it came to a stop behind a local business establishment, as reported by the City of Houston. Following the vehicle's departure from the tracks, it abruptly caught on fire.
Paramedics arrived at the scene of the accident and found the woman inside the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
