
A recent home invasion in Houston turned fatal on Wednesday night, when a man was shot at 2501 Westridge Street at approximately 9:15 p.m. According to a report by the City of Houston, the incident has resulted in the death of an 18-year-old male, whose identity remains unconfirmed pending verification from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The situation unfolded when three males attempted to enter the apartment, moments before the violence erupted. Witnesses told Houston Police Department patrol officers, that one masked male knocked on the door, while his accomplices forced entry through a window. Amid the chaos, the residents inside made an emergency call to 9-1-1, as per the City of Houston.
As reported by the City of Houston, a confrontational struggle ensued when one of the intruders brandished a firearm towards an occupant of the apartment. In a defensive maneuver, the tenant disarmed the aggressor, but the suspect managed to pull a second gun. The tables turned when the tenant, wrestled this gun away, and subsequently, shot the assailant. The two other suspects fled the scene on foot. The Houston Fire Department responded and pronounced the suspect deceased at the scene.
Given the seriousness of the case, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office quickly got involved and decided it should go to a grand jury. Houston Police Department Homicide Detectives L. Patterson and N. Henderson are leading the investigation and are asking for the public’s help in finding the two remaining suspects.
