An arrest has been made in connection to the fatal shooting that occurred on Glen Manor Drive last Saturday, ending the life of 18-year-old Brandon Price. Houston Police Department's Homicide Division, led by Sergeant C. Ponder and Detective J. Meister, responded to a call and discovered Price with gunshot wounds; despite the efforts of the Houston Fire Department paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene, as detailed in the Houston Police Department's news release.
The subsequent investigation by HPD identified Brayland Whitehead, also 18, as the suspect, and with coordination from the Harris County District Attorney's Office, charges have been brought against him, Whitehead now faces murder charges in the 209th State District Court, and as part of the formal process, a booking photo has been released to the public.
Details about the motive behind the shooting remain unclear, and HPD has not released any further information regarding what may have led to the violent encounter between the two teenagers. According to the Houston Police Department's official press release, the initial lack of suspect description and motive posed significant challenges to investigators who had been working the case.
Brayland Whitehead remains in custody at the Harris County Jail, with forthcoming court dates and legal proceedings that will likely shed more light on the circumstances of this tragedy.
