A section of I-94 was closed on Saturday following a non-fatal shooting incident involving two vehicles. Michigan State Police informed the public via a social media post that preliminary investigations revealed a black Chevrolet Malibu and a silver vehicle, whose make and model were not specified, had their drivers engaged in gunfire while driving. Following the collision, occupants of both the Chevrolet and the GMC pulled over to the freeway's right shoulder. A passenger from the Chevrolet was witnessed carrying a pistol up the embankment, disposing of it before returning to the vehicle. Michigan State Police later recovered the weapon, identified as a 9mm Glock 19 equipped with a switch. Two individuals from the Chevrolet were transported to the hospital by St Clair Shores EMS for medical treatment, as noted by both sources.
In their search for answers, detectives are looking into the motive behind the shooting and the connections between the two drivers. "This is a very large scene and the freeway will be closed for sometime," F/Lt Mike Shaw told The Detroit News.
