Amidst this backdrop of community service, Jacksonville Beach's police department is setting the stage for another critical initiative. They're hosting the DEA’s Drug Take Back Day this upcoming weekend, providing a safe way for individuals to dispose of their unused, no longer needed, and expired medications. The call to action is clear, "Now is the time to clean out those medicine cabinets", according to the Police Department's Facebook post.
Participation in the Drug Take Back Day is designed to be accessible for all members of the Jacksonville Beach community. Between the hours of 10am and 2pm on Saturday, the public can bring their medications to the police department's lobby, where they will be collected and disposed of properly. This event aligns with nationwide efforts to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths by reducing the availability of potentially dangerous expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs in homes.
