A 26-year-old Jacksonville man remains in critical condition following a collision involving his motorcycle and a sedan on Interstate 95 near Emerson Street. The crash, which took place shortly before 8 p.m. yesterday, resulted in the shutdown of all lanes for several hours as emergency teams responded to the scene. According to Action News Jax, the motorcyclist was heading southbound when his bike struck the rear of the sedan.

Florida Highway Patrol detailed in a news release that post-collision, the motorcycle and its rider skidded "in the roadway excess of 300 feet" before coming to a halt in the center and right lanes. Reports from Action News Jax indicate that the motorcyclist was transported to Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

The occupants of the sedan involved in the crash, including three children ages six, eight, and ten, were taken to Wolfson Children's Hospital with minor injuries, confirms News4Jax. They were accompanied by the 43-year-old male driver and a 34-year-old female passenger.

All injured parties are expected to recover, with the exception of the motorcyclist whose injuries are life-threatening. FHP mentioned that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, which might have played a critical role in the outcome of this harrowing event. Road closures in the area were lifted as the night progressed, and I-95 South at Emerson was subsequently reopened to traffic.
