This facility is designed to provide officers with a secure place to briefly step away from their duties and recharge amidst their demanding schedules. According to a recent Facebook post from the Sheriff's Office, the space allows officers to "take a quick break before heading back out to protect and serve the community."
Evangel Temple contributed to the development of this new resource, which provides officers with amenities such as a space to write reports, refill water bottles, and connect with fellow team members. The station is intended to support officers by offering a place to take brief breaks while remaining prepared to respond to the community's needs.
Residents should be aware that the Stop Stations are not intended for reporting crimes or emergencies. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office advises the public to use 911 or visit one of the six police substations throughout Jacksonville for assistance with such matters.
The opening of the station reflects ongoing collaboration between the Jacksonville community and the police department. "Your support helps our officers face each shift with renewed energy," reads a statement from the Sheriff's Office. It is not yet known whether this model will be implemented in other districts.
