Residents who frequent Jarboe Park and its courts will need to make alternative plans for the start of May and again mid-month. According to an announcement from the City of Neptune Beach, maintenance works are set to disrupt regular activities in the park. All courts will be temporarily closed to the public from April 28 to May 2 for necessary surfacing repairs, and again from May 12 to May 16 for lighting repairs.
While no one doubts the need for these improvements, they come at a time when outdoor activities start to peak with the warm weather in spring, running through the heart of park season. The closures will surely be a minor hassle for many who rely on this public space for their recreational activities. The city officials are asking for the community's patience during these times of repair and refurbishment, ensuring that the short-term inconvenience will lead to long-term benefits for all park-goers.
Users of the courts are being reminded to observe the closure dates and plan their activities accordingly. The park's other amenities will remain open to the public, although the areas surrounding the courts may also be affected by the ongoing work during these periods. Officials have promised that the closures will be strictly confined to the specified dates, weather permitting, to minimize disruption to the local community's routine.
