
The Metropolitan Police Department has taken a juvenile into custody following a stabbing incident in Northeast D.C. last weekend. According to a press release from the MPD, the violence erupted last Saturday, when officers discovered a young male with a stab wound around 7:06 p.m. in the 1600 block of Maryland Avenue, Northeast.
Fortunately, the victim was conscious and breathing when law enforcement arrived on the scene. After being transported to a local hospital by DC Fire and EMS, it was determined that he sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Working swiftly, detectives conducted an investigation which concluded with the arrest of a 13-year-old male from the same area, charging him with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife).
The incident is still under active investigation as the authorities continue to gather facts and information. The MPD has made a public call for assistance and urges anyone with knowledge of the stabbing to promptly make contact.
