A 63-year-old man from Kalamazoo was struck by a car and killed last night, local authorities have reported. The incident occurred near the intersection of Portage and Reed Streets around 9 p.m. According to the WZZM13, the man was found unresponsive and not breathing upon the arrival of police officers at the scene.
The 63-year-old was promptly taken to a hospital but could not be revived and was pronounced dead. According to WOODTV, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety clarified that the driver involved in the crash stayed on scene and cooperated with the ongoing investigation. Investigators do not currently believe alcohol to have been a factor in the crash.
