Drivers in the Kansas City area should gear up for a series of maintenance-induced disruptions scheduled for the tail end of April into early May. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced an extensive roster of repair and maintenance work across multiple counties. According to their latest news update, the planned works are weather permitting and will stretch from April 28 through May 2.
Clay County will see pavement repair operations with flaggers directing traffic on Route JJ between Missouri Highway 210 and Route H starting Monday, April 28, and expected to endure until Thursday, May 1, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. Additionally, Route H, sandwiched between Route JJ and the Liberty city limits, will face similar disruptions from Wednesday, April 30, all the way to Friday, May 2, within the same hours, as mentioned on MoDOT's official website.
In Jackson County, motorists should be prepared for a right lane closure on Missouri Highway 291 northbound at Swann Rd. in Lee's Summit. Scheduled for Wednesday, April 30, from around 9 a.m to 4 p.m., the closure serves drainage work, necessitating travelers to factor in additional commute time. Further flagging operations will be held on Route BB between Route FF and Pink Hill Rd. starting Thursday, May 1, until the subsequent day, with crews working on pavement repair during the hours 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Those driving through downtown Kansas City should anticipate "intermittent lane closures" on various bridges over the interstates on Thursday, May 1, and Friday, May 2, between the window of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., when crews will be out flushing bridges. Lafayette, Pettis, and Saline counties will not be exempt from the wave of maintenance activities, with numerous flagging operations and full closures planned for critical routes to facilitate pipe replacement and pavement repair, according to details posted by MoDOT.
MoDOT issues a reminder to all, motorists are implored to slow down and be observant while navigating through work zones. It's important to note that work zones may vary, ranging from short-term, temporary lane closures to more extensive repairs or debris removal operations. For the most current traffic updates and traveler information, tuning into the MoDOT's website is encouraged.
