Kent State University has again illuminated its campus by celebrating Student Employee Appreciation Week, wherein two exemplary figures have seized the spotlight for their outstanding contributions. According to a Kent State publication, the 2025 Student Employee and Supervisor Awards were handed out, honoring individuals who exhibit excellence and leadership while fostering community principles across the campus.
Among the awardees is Seema Dhaher, a name now synonymous with initiative and dedication at the university's Recreation and Wellness Services. Her commitment to diverse roles – Lifeguard, Aquatics Supervisor, Safety Instructor, and Adventure Center Specialist – has raised the bar for campus safety and galvanized the growth of Recreation and Wellness Services. "As President of the Student RecWell Council, she leads students in upholding RecWell’s values and acts as a key connection between student employees, administrators and the community," the university statement expounds. Dhaher's passion for safety and education bridges divides and is directly credited with life-saving outcomes on campus.
The recognition these awards convey isn't just a pat on the back for a well-done job. These accolades thrust into the limelight the pivotal roles student employees and their supervisors play in the backbone of university operations. These individuals, like Dhaher, often silently ensure the smooth running and safety of the campus while concurrently bettering themselves through education and leadership experiences.
