A Knox County man is facing serious criminal charges after a hidden camera was found in a women's restroom at a local park. According to WVLT, a grand jury indicted 33-year-old Tony Lynn Strand on multiple counts, including especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, burglary, and observation without consent.
The camera, which was illicitly placed within the confines of a women's bathroom at Cove Park in Farragut, was discovered after deputies responded to a report of something suspicious, as detailed by the Knox County Sheriff's Office. Despite the disturbing nature of the incident, Strand's bond was set at $500,000, which was reported by WATE. In a twist of circumstances, Knox County Sheriff’s Office has reached out to the public, urging those who visited the bathroom between March 24 and April 8 to provide information that could assist the investigation.
Investigators have narrowed the timeframe during which the camera was active, and they believe it was in place from March 24 to April 8, reports WBIR. The discovery has prompted a community-wide inspection of restroom facilities at other Knox County-managed parks to ensure no further privacy breaches have occurred.
Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler issued a statement, obtained by WATE, emphasizing the importance of the investigation: "We are committed to thoroughly investigating these serious charges and ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. We appreciate the urgency and sensitivity of this matter and are dedicated to bringing justice to all affected individuals." Caught in this troubling situation, Knox County Parks & Rec has conducted a thorough inspection of all park restrooms in response to the discovery, safeguarding the privacy of park-goers and rectifying the breach of trust cast upon an unsuspecting public.
As the investigation progresses, the Knox County Sheriff's Office remains steadfast in their resolve to uncover the full extent of this privacy invasion. Victims and individuals with potential information are encouraged to contact the Major Crimes Unit by emailing details of their park visit to [email protected]. The Sheriff's Office reassures community members that they are doing everything in their power to ensure justice is served in this unsettling invasion of privacy.
