The National Weather Service in Morristown says Thursday may reach 99 degrees, with heat-index values as high as 104. Wednesday night will offer little relief, with mostly clear skies and a low around 73, while winds remain nearly calm.
A heat advisory is posted for parts of southern Tennessee, though Knox County is not included in the listed advisory zones. Friday will remain oppressively hot, with sunshine, a high near 98 and only a slight chance of rain.
Storm Chances Return This Weekend
Saturday stays hot near 95, but a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives after 2 p.m. Sunday eases to 93 with a 20% storm chance after 2 p.m., and Labor Day should reach 91 with another 30% afternoon storm chance.
The updated outlook follows Hoodline’s Tuesday forecast, with the latest forecast keeping the heat locked in through Friday before slightly cooler temperatures and scattered storms return.
