Despite the misty start, the forecast anticipates a 30 percent likelihood of rain and thunderstorms starting after 4 pm today with mostly sunny skies expected and highs nearing the mid-80s calm winds are expected to take a slight turn from the southwest during the afternoon hours. As the day progresses into night, shower chances diminish to 10 percent before 8 pm, leaving skies partly cloudy and thermometers hovering around the mid-60s with once again tranquil winds, moving into Thursday the chances for showers and thunderstorms pick up again, reaching a 50 percent probability, while partly sunny skies will host highs in the low 80s and light southwest winds that might intensify to gusts of up to 25 mph.
The NWS detailed forecast continues for the week, indicating Thursday night to have a 60 percent chance of precipitation, with possible showers and thunderstorms rolling in after 2 am while Friday's conditions look particularly wet with a 70 percent chance of showers tending to before and after the midday hours amidst partly sunny skies and modest southwest winds peaking at 20 mph for gusts. The likelihood of rain doesn't let up for Friday night, maintaining strong odds of 70 percent for precipitation before tapering to chances of showers and storms over the weekend, extending into Sunday, while Monday and Tuesday are expected to be sunnier with only a slight hint of possible showers.
The forecast available at NWS Knoxville's website indicates a slight break from the inclement weather starting Sunday when sunny conditions are due to return with highs in the low 70s, which appears to be the trend for early next week as well, with mostly clear skies through Monday night and only a minimal 20 percent chance of showers noted for Tuesday, which will continue to be sunny with highs creeping up to nearly 80°F.
