Los Angeles is grappling with yet another hit-and-run, this time in the bustling district of Koreatown, where a white sedan struck a pedestrian in the early hours of December 22, 2024. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the 29-year-old male victim was hit while crossing Catalina Street towards Wilshire Boulevard. The driver, instead of stopping to help, continued on, leaving the injured man in a state that required immediate medical attention. The incident, captured on video, is available for public viewing and could be key in identifying those responsible.
The injured pedestrian, whose name has not been disclosed, was quickly attended by the Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics and transported to a local hospital. His condition was described as severe. The white sedan involved in the incident has not been located as of yet, and detectives from the West Traffic Division are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the driver's capture. A reward of up to $50,000 is on the table—the result of an amendment the City Council made to the Los Angeles Administrative Code on April 15, 2015. This reward is intended to incentivize witnesses to step forward with evidence that could lead to an arrest or a civil resolution.
Anyone with details that could help shed light on the accident is urged to reach out to Detective II Holmes of the West Traffic Division. During office hours, contact can be made at 213-473-0238. Afterhours calls should be directed to the LAPD's 24-hour hotline at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247). Anonymity is not a barrier to providing information; anonymous tips can be made through the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477) or their website. Furthermore, there is the “P3 Tips” mobile app which allows those wishing to remain unnamed to submit information while choosing the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers as their program.
