Yesterday afternoon, a residential structure fire was reported at a one-story home in North Hollywood. According to a Los Angeles Fire Department alert, the incident occurred at 11254 W Emelita St, where firefighters arrived to find flames in the attic of the 1,268-square-foot home. Thankfully, all occupants had evacuated safely before the LAFD units arrived on the scene.
The LAFD's follow-up notification indicated that a team of 26 firefighters managed to extinguish the fire in just 25 minutes, confining the damage primarily to the attic space of the building, which dates back to 1938. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but it is known that contractors were performing roofing repair work when the blaze started. There were no reported injuries from the incident.
Efforts to control and ultimately knock down the fire were challenging due to the stubborn flames in the attic. Firefighting personnel from Stations 60, 77, 86, and 89, among others, were deployed, utilizing trucks and engines specially equipped to handle such scenarios. Commanders from Battalion 14 and officials from the Valley Bureau were also present at the scene to oversee the operations.
Investigations into the exact cause of the fire are ongoing at this time.
