The Las Cruces Public Libraries are extending opportunities for adults to sharpen their digital skills with a series of computer literacy classes this April. These sessions, free of charge and accessible to all levels of computer users, are set to take place at the Munson Senior Center on Mondays and at Thomas Branigan Memorial Library on Tuesdays.
For individuals grappling with the basics of smartphones and computers, these classes aim to demystify the digital landscape, helping attendees wield these tools with greater confidence. A lineup of topics, including Smartphone Basics, Basic Computer Skills, and Internet Basics and Safety, is on the agenda, tailored for hands-on learning. The libraries encourage participants to bring their laptops, but availability of equipment and space is on a first-come, first-served basis, as detailed by the City of Las Cruces.
At Munson Senior Center, classes run from 10 a.m. to noon, starting with Smartphone Basics on Monday, April 7. Classes will proceed through the month, culminating with Email Basics on April 28, where the basics of online communication will be explored.
The Thomas Branigan Memorial Library offers its classes from 2 to 4 p.m., starting with Basic Computer Skills on April 1. Each session is crafted to not only equip attendees with fundamental knowledge but also to ensure their digital safety and competency. Topics range from the intricacies of operating systems like Windows 11 and MacOS, to practical skills in managing files and organizing digital photos. Space is limited,, and no registration is required, so early arrival is suggested to secure a spot.
