
The City of Las Vegas is hosting an Arbor Day and Earth Day celebration on April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Children’s Memorial Park, 6601 W. Gowan Road. The event will take place in Ward 5, with Councilwoman Shondra Summers-Armstrong attending, according to the City of Las Vegas.
Tree planting activities will take place from 10 a.m. to noon during the first half of the event. Participants can sign up for the tree planting, with instructions and tools provided. Volunteers can also take part in a park cleanup. Local food trucks will be available, offering food for purchase, as reported by the City of Las Vegas.

The city is celebrating 32 years as a Tree City USA, a recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation for its urban forestry efforts. Las Vegas has set a goal to plant 60,000 new trees by 2050 to improve the urban environment by increasing shade and reducing temperatures, as stated by the City of Las Vegas.
