As Lewisville marks its centennial year, the city has embarked on an initiative titled "Giving is Golden," which aims to engage residents in supporting their community and bolstering local nonprofits working tirelessly on the ground. According to a recent article on the City of Lewisville's official website, the initiative will incorporate a series of collection drives throughout 2025, with each drive focusing on gathering essential items for different agencies.
Rallying the community, the current drive, which runs until May 25, seeks to collect basic personal care items such as paper towels, toilet paper, and feminine hygiene products, with a goal of 2,025 units for each product category. The beneficiary organizations include Christian Community Action (CCA), Journey to Dream, and Communities in Schools of North Texas (CISNT). As reported by the City of Lewisville, as of yesterday, 159 items have been donated, challenging the community to step up its contributions in the remaining days.
The city has facilitated the effort by establishing multiple drop-off locations, which can be found as diverse as the Lewisville City Hall on Church Street to the Lewisville Grand Theater on Charles Street. These collection sites have been strategically placed to encourage widespread participation. Additionally, future drives are scheduled, with June featuring a drive for Serve Lewisville focusing on office and cleaning supplies, and August witnessing a book and baby essentials drive for organizations such as PediPlace and Health Services of North Texas (HSNT).
