The City of Lewisville is opening its doors to civic-minded residents looking to play a more active role in their community. With applications now being accepted for various positions on city boards, commissions, and committees, locals have until Friday, May 2, to throw their hats in the ring.
According to a recent announcement on the city's official website, these volunteer positions are open to all Lewisville residents ready to contribute to the administration of their city through any of the 11 active boards or committees. Describing the importance of these roles, the city statement advises those interested to attend board meetings to better understand the responsibilities and operations before applying. City of Lewisville's official announcement states, "The City encourages interested residents to attend meetings of the boards they might be interested in serving on before submitting their application."
Applications, once submitted, will be reviewed by the City Council before the June 16 meeting, when appointments are expected to be made. It's a chance for residents to have authentic input into decisions that affect their neighbourhoods and way of life. All applications should be funneled through the City Secretary and will be retained for one year. Those who wish to express their interest personally may also visit any City Council member. As discussed on the City of Lewisville's website, "Interested residents also are welcome to visit any City Council member and express their desire to serve the community in any of these capacities."
