The department has received multiple reports of phone calls to locals, where scammers, using the names of actual officers, claim the recipient has missed grand jury duty and must immediately pay a fine to avoid arrest.
Individuals must recognize that these calls are fraudulent and understand that the Lewisville Police Department "will NEVER call you about missing jury duty, and we will never demand money over the phone," according to a social media post from the Lewisville Police Department. When contacted by these scammers, the public is advised to immediately hang up and refrain from sending money or sharing any personal information.
