If you're looking for a place to easily connect over classics and hidden gems of cinema, the Lewisville Public Library has you covered with its Monday Night Movie Club. Set for April 21 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Crawford Meeting Room, this gathering is billed for adults who love to dissect and discuss motion pictures. No need to sign up in advance, as per the City of Lewisville.
Not to be outdone, teens have their slice of library life with the Teen AniMakers: Anime+Makers. This event caters specifically to those aged 13 to 18 and takes place on April 24 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The Hive Makerspace transforms into a hub where anime enthusiasts are free to wildly share their favorite titles, catch episodes via the library's Crunchyroll account, and immerse themselves in crafting—all with supplies provided at no cost.
It's never too early to party, as evidenced by the Baby Prom scheduled for Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Bennett Program Room. Tiny tots, aged 0-36 months, along with their caregivers, are invited to dress up and enjoy some dance floor fun. Given the library's no registration required policy for this event, it's as simple as showing up in festive attire and being ready to groove. It's worth noting that baby wranglers—also known as caregivers—must accompany their little dance partners.
Each of these events reflects the Lewisville Public Library’s dedication to cultivating an environment where community members can effortlessly engage with various forms of entertainment and each other. Located at 1197 W. Main Street, the library boasts generous hours for those with diverse schedules: open Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It remains closed on Sundays, granting staff and books alike a well-deserved rest. So, whether you're a cinephile, an anime guru, or a dancing queen (or king) in training, the library stands ready to provide a space for you to joyfully explore and connect.
