A Los Angeles County firefighter was hospitalized with moderate injuries after an incident involving an oncoming train on Sunday. As per KTLA, the firefighter was responding to a fire near the train tracks in Pico Rivera when the injury occurred.
Fire officials reported the call came in around 10:13 p.m. about a commercial fire near Cord Avenue and Rivera Road. A storage unit and possibly a pile of railroad ties were ablaze. During the efforts to quell the fire, an oncoming train ran over the firehose being used, which led to the firefighter's injury, KTLA detailed. The specifics of the incident, however, were not immediately clear.
The injured firefighter was transported to a hospital. CBS Los Angeles indicated that the fire crews had contained the flames by the time their SkyCal helicopter arrived over the scene. The fire was reportedly knocked down by 10:54 p.m., with no other structures being affected and no additional injuries reported.
