The rescue showcased teamwork and advanced technology as the San Jose Police Department's AIR3 helicopter played a crucial role in the operation. AIR3 utilized thermal imaging to swiftly locate the individual off the main slough trail, as per a post by the San Jose Police Department. The aircrew immediately shone their spotlight on the subject, alerting him of a dangerous 10-foot cliff nearby, therefore averting what could have been a fatal fall in the darkness.
As the situation escalated with nightfall, the efforts of the ground and air teams culminated in a success. The San Jose Police Department's post highlighted this seamless cooperation: "Thanks to the skilled coordination between SJFD USAR teams, Patrol, and AIR3, the runner was safely located and brought back to the mainland."
