
Madelene Sagstrom won the T-Mobile Match Play final 1-up against Lauren Coughlin on Sunday at Shadow Creek, ending a five-year winless streak. This victory marks her second LPGA Tour title, with her first coming in 2020, according to AP News.
Sagstrom began with a four-hole lead, but Coughlin won five of the next six holes to close the gap. After a par on the 16th hole, Sagstrom regained the lead and held it through the back nine, as reported by Las Vegas Review-Journal. She made key par recoveries on the final holes to secure the victory.
Sagstrom, ranked 67th, won the tournament at Shadow Creek. She defeated Ariya Jutanugarn 1 up in the semifinals, Angel Yin 4 and 2 in the quarterfinals, and Celine Boutier in an extra hole in a delayed quarterfinal match. In the final, she defeated Coughlin to claim the title. The victory earned Sagstrom a $300,000 winner's share, as per AP News.
