In the bustling West 7th Entertainment District of Fort Worth, a sharp decline in major crime has been reported, with figures indicating a 36% drop from 2023 to 2024. Data points to an enhanced police presence as a key factor in discouraging acts such as aggravated assault, robbery, and other severe criminal offenses.
According to a recent press release from the City of Fort Worth, the area known as the King 12, or K-12, has not only become a hub for nightlife but is home to a community that includes residential apartments and commercial properties. This drop in crime is significant for the numerous residents and businesses that form the palpable heartbeat of West 7th.
Further improvements have been seen specifically within the bar district, as the number of confiscated guns has seen a downward trend. The City reported that Fort Worth Police seized 115 guns in 2023 and 90 in 2024, with 2025 on track to have even lower figures.
Vehicle-related crimes have also seen a drastic reduction, with auto theft decreasing by 46% and vehicle burglaries by 40%. Only one stolen vehicle has been encountered by officers so far this year, pointing to a safer environment for car owners. At the same time, comes the implementation of the Golden Lasso Accreditation – a voluntary program aimed at bars and restaurants to uphold safety and promote enjoyable nightlife experiences.
