After years in the shadows, a 2009 cold case murder has finally seen a sliver of justice as an indictment surfaces for the suspect. Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Somerville Police Chief Shumeane Benford announced that Heinsky Anacreon, now 38, of Malden, has been charged with the first-degree murder of Charline Rosemond, whose life was cut short over a decade ago. Rosemond was discovered deceased in her father's vehicle in Union Square, a bullet wound marking the end of her aspirations and dreams.
Charline, a vivacious 23-year-old eager to claim independence through the purchase of her desired Lexus, was betrayed by those she considered friends. The indictment that emerged today tells a tale of deception where Anacreon, along with accomplice Roberto Jeune, led Rosemond to believe in a false opportunity. She was lured with the promise of a bargain for the car she sought after, only to face her untimely demise in a remote parking lot. Through the dedicated efforts of the State Police homicide unit and Somerville detectives, the merciless act has finally yielded an indictment.
"Charline Rosemond was a promising and hard-working young woman with her whole life ahead of her," said District Attorney Ryan in a statement from the District Attorney's Office, capturing the weight of the tragedy. She further stated, "We allege today that she was taken advantage of and murdered by two men who were willing to take her life for $4,000."
The accrual of evidence spotlighted the somber details of the crime and Anacreon's subsequent attempts to misdirect the course of justice. Found dead for days, Rosemond was possibly trusting of Roberto Jeune, a man she considered a close friend. According to the District Attorney's Office, Anacreon even went so far as to try and mislead police during a proffer session in May 2024, with false claims. Despite Roberto Jeune's death from natural causes in July 2024, justice may yet be served on behalf of Charline, with Anacreon's arraignment date pending.
Looking ahead, David Solet, Chief of the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office Cold Case Unit, is assigned as the prosecutor, while Susie Marshall takes on the role of Victim Witness Advocate.
