
A high-speed chase initiated by a theft at a Belmont Walgreens culminated with the arrest of Travis Eugene Cuthbertson in Charlotte after he crashed his vehicle and was apprehended following a brief foot pursuit, local authorities reported. QC News described the pursuit concluding at the intersection of Old Pineville Road and Archdale Drive where Cuthbertson collided with two other cars, the aftermath of a chase that had law enforcement sprinting to contain the situation.
According to WSOC-TV, the incident began with a brazen theft wherein Cuthbertson, 35, shattered a Walgreens glass display and absconded with perfumes and colognes worth over $2,000 he then fled in a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, which became the crux of the cross-county police chase, before it spun out into a tangled mess of metal and rubber on Charlotte's streets.
The 35-year-old's criminal record was further detailed in a report by WCNC, which indicated that Cuthbertson was already facing a string of charges including felony conspiracy, and was noted in the National Crime Information Center database with full extradition rights for issues related to felony flee to elude and a probation violation in Mecklenburg County.
Upon being medically cleared at the hospital, Cuthbertson is expected to be transferred to Gaston County Jail. There, he will confront additional charges including Felony Flee to Elude, Assault on a Law Enforcement Official, Felony Larceny, Driving While License Revoked, Damage to Property, and Careless and Reckless Driving. These details have emerged during an ongoing investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies, all of whom cooperated during the pursuit and subsequent arrest.
