A man in his 40s was critically injured after a stabbing incident at the Brooklyn Bridge–City Hall subway station on a southbound 4/5/6 line platform this morning. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in serious condition following the altercation that occurred around 8:40 a.m, according to NYPD officials via Gothamist
As the NYPD searches for the assailant, who allegedly fled the station, the details stemming from this violent event remain scant, with the identity of the suspect still at large. In a description provided by the NYPD, the suspect was last seen wearing a black jacket, and they are now looking for a man in his 30s connected to the attack. Having fled the scene, NYPD officials have not yet determined if there was any acquaintance between the attacker and the victim.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has announced temporary adjustments to the subway services, directing commuters to other routes. The statement indicated that 4 and 5 trains would bypass the Brooklyn Bridge–City Hall station while the police conducted their on-site investigation, inviting travelers to use the northbound platform for 6 trains and the alternative southbound 6 trains at the 14th Street–Union Square for City Hall service.

According to the same source, the event may have been precipitated by a dispute on the number 6 train which escalated, before the suspect was caught on camera putting a knife in his bag.
