
The streets of Northeast Washington, D.C., became the backdrop for a tragic incident on a quiet Sunday night when a man and a woman were found suffering from gunshot wounds, according to an official release by the Metropolitan Police Department. The incident unfolded in the 4400 block of Foote Street, Northeast, where the violence claimed the life of 28-year-old Kevin Edwards and left an unnamed woman injured.
Police were called to the scene in the 100 block of 54th Street, Southeast, around 10:12 PM, after reports of the shooting were made; upon their arrival, they discovered the victims and sought emergency medical assistance, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. Despite the swift response of D.C. Fire and EMS, Edwards succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, and the woman, whose injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, received treatment and is expected to recover.
As of now, the Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the homicide and is seeking the assistance of the public for any information that could lead to an arrest and eventual conviction of the perpetrator(s). In line with their policy, the department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for details that could crack the case open.
