
A tragic incident unfolded in Jacksonville's Phoenix neighborhood yesterday evening, resulting in the death of a man and leaving a woman injured. According to the First Coast News, reports of a person shot prompted the dispatch of officers to the corner of East 10th Street and Phoenix Avenue at around 6:51 p.m.
Upon arrival, authorities found a late 30s male and an early 20s female victim, both suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department swiftly transported them to the hospital, where unfortunately, the man was pronounced dead, while the woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries, as Sergeant La’Tosha Thompson from JSO briefed during a press conference and was mentioned by First Coast News.
The News4Jax account confirmed that the man passed away from his injuries at the scene. In the ongoing investigation, JSO Homicide and Crime Scene Unit detectives were called to further look into the circumstances of the shooting. The victims were reported to have been driving at the time of the incident.
There have been no arrests made in connection to the shooting as of yet. "No arrests were made," stated a news release from Jacksonville police, which was cited by Action News Jax.
