A statement from the Maricopa County Attorney's Office announced that Noel Jesus Gordillo has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of Christopher Gonzales. The sentencing followed a legal process that began after the incident in early 2023, as reported by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.
On March 5, 2023, police responded to 911 calls about a shooting near 28th Drive and Cactus Road. When officers arrived, they found Gonzales with a head wound outside a local business. He was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, investigators later identified Gordillo as the person who approached on a bicycle and shot Gonzales.
Gordillo was arrested on March 15, 2023, after an investigation using witness statements and surveillance footage identified him as a suspect. He has two previous prison sentences and six felony convictions. The evidence led to his recent sentencing. Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said, “This criminal has proven again that he cannot live in our community and must be incarcerated,” as stated by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.
