A man was seriously wounded in a North Portland neighborhood shooting on Saturday, as reported by multiple sources. The shooting in the residential area caused alarm among residents and led to an extensive police investigation. KOIN detailed that the incident occurred early Saturday night and resulted in one man being shot in the leg. Officers who arrived at the scene applied a tourniquet to the wound, an action credited with potentially saving the man's life, and he was subsequently transported to the hospital around 6:00 p.m.
Witnesses reported disruption and fear, with one neighbor, Linda Dougherty, recounting hearing six gunshots before witnessing a scene of conflict, "I went over there and there was people fighting and arguing back and forth," said Dougherty according to KGW. Police arrived not long after and began their investigation, prompting residents to stay indoors for their safety and police were also seen scrutinizing nearby areas, including bushes and a playground, in their search for evidence.
The investigation of the shooting revealed that after the incident, the suspect had fled the scene before authorities arrived, and as of late Saturday, no arrests had been made. This information was corroborated by KPTV, which also emphasized that police canvassed the neighborhood, but the perpetrator remained at large as law enforcement continued their investigation into the night.
