Manteca Police Department reported that Officer Ryan Castro is involved in legal proceedings related to an off-duty incident. The department shared on social media that Castro was under investigation by the Ripon Police Department. The incident happened outside Manteca’s jurisdiction on May 1, 2024, as stated by the Manteca Police Department.
After being notified of the investigation, Manteca Police Department placed Officer Castro on paid administrative leave. The Ripon Police Department conducted the criminal investigation, which has now concluded. The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges, and Castro turned himself in to the San Joaquin County Jail.
According to the Manteca Police Department on their Facebook page, they are addressing an internal personnel matter involving Officer Castro, who has been with the department since June 2018 after previously working at the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. The department stated, "We are now proceeding with our internal administrative process," and added that no further details will be released. The nature of the incident and any possible charges have not been disclosed.
