The City of Maricopa is actively calling on its citizens to get involved, particularly through participation in various city committees. According to a recent report by the City of Maricopa, these groups provide essential feedback to the City Council on a range of topics from public safety, development, to arts and culture. It’s a direct channel for residents to make their voices heard on local matters.
To strengthen these connections, the Maricopa City Council has greenlit a policy change that allows City staff to act as liaisons on these committees. “This measure will enhance committees even more as there are a lot of great ideas coming out of City Hall from our employees that will only benefit the community,” Mayor Smith explained. The initiative aims to bridge City Hall and the community, to foster an environment where staff can contribute their insights directly.
Highlighting the importance of community engagement, Councilmember Manfredi said, “There are so many ways to participate and volunteer in the City of Maricopa.” Manfredi’s comments underscore a broader campaign by the city to promote active citizenship. This includes having locals serve on a committee or volunteer with emergency services – opportunities abound for those looking to get involved.
Moreover, in keeping the momentum of civic engagement, the council has reappointed 12 committee members to continue their service. They expressed gratitude to these members and encouraged others to consider participating. If you're interested in a committee service or any other form of civic engagement, you can visit the city’s website or reach out to the City Clerk’s office for more information on how to get started.
