A SWAT incident in Cobb County concluded with one individual being taken into custody after authorities surrounded a home on Cunningham Road in Marietta. The situation began in the early afternoon following a domestic dispute call, leading to the suspect barricading themselves inside the residence, as FOX 5 reported.
The standoff brought in law enforcement personnel, and eventually a peaceful resolution ensued, though the name and potential charges of the individual are yet to be disclosed; meanwhile, the Cobb County Police Department has urged the public to come forward with any useful information. In a separate but eerily similar incident, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office SWAT was engaged in the second such action of the week, where a suspect identified as Terrell Crawford was arrested after a tense standoff in Augusta, according to WRDW.
Crawford, after spotting a deputy, fled into a home on Hunter Street and commenced a barricade, causing the evacuation of nearby residences and the deployment of SWAT negotiators, which followed Crawford's eventual surrender. His record of confrontations with law enforcement and a string of charges including felony theft and firearm possession were substantial enough to merit the swift action by the team.
This was the latest in a series of incidents involving the Richmond County SWAT team over several days. A previous standoff on Wylie Drive ended in an arrest, and an earlier involvement in McDuffie County involved a police chase that ended in a fatality. Sheriff Eugene Brantley stated that the deputies and SWAT team executed the operations and took Crawford into custody without injury, citing the deputy’s situational awareness and quick action as factors in the outcome.
