An alarming incident has prompted the Marion County Sheriff's Office to issue an urgent search for 32-year-old Delvon Thornton. Accused of aggravated battery on a person over 65, Thornton was allegedly involved in a go-kart altercation that escalated to violence against an elderly woman, according to ClickOrlando.
Described by Sheriff Billy Woods in a video statement yesterday, Thornton was driving the go-kart during a verbal dispute when he struck the 66-year-old victim. Making matters worse, when deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered the woman with multiple wounds on her body and some of her teeth broken. "My category? Dirt of the Earth," Woods said in the statement detailed by ClickOrlando.
A plea for public assistance was additionally posted on the Marion County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, emphasizing Thornton's nine prior jail bookings. "Now, I’m asking for your help to get justice for the victim in this case and bring his bookings to double digits," Sheriff Woods stated, appealing to the community's sense of duty in apprehending Thornton. He expressed doubt concerning Thornton's inclinations to surrender voluntarily.
