The diligence of Marysville Police Department's officers resulted in the interception of an illegal firearm during a recent traffic stop. On a routine afternoon patrol through downtown Marysville, law enforcement officials conducted what began as a typical traffic stop—routine but for the discovery that soon unfolded within the stopped vehicle.
Inside, a loaded gun with no serial number, colloquially known as a "Ghost Gun," was uncovered alongside an additional loaded magazine. According to the Facebook post from the Marysville Police Department, the 9mm firearm was unregistered, marking a significant seizure in their efforts to combat untraceable weapons on the streets.
The driver, now apprehended by officers, was arrested for numerous weapons charges and subsequently booked into YCSO jail. As unserialized firearms pose a complex challenge for law enforcement, the arrest highlights the importance of proactive policing strategies in mitigating the circulation of such weapons that often evade traditional methods of tracking and registration.
